Which Tire to Choose?

I'm getting ready to purchase a new set of tires for my Nismo's and thought it would be a good idea to get some opinions. In the past I've ran Falken Azenis ST-115 (loved them, too bad they are discontinued) and Dunlop FM901 (worst tire in the world).

This tire will serve as my daily driver (15,000km a year) plus at least 2-3 track days, and at least 4-6 drag strip days. I'm planning on tossing them at the end of the year.

Option 1.
BF Goodrich G-force T/A KDW
Size: 235/40/17

Pro: Good for the wet and dry conditions, all around pretty solid tire.
Con: Not really a true performance tire, at least I don't think it'll hold up at the track as good as I would like it to.

Option 2.
Falken Azenis RT-615
Size: 235/40/17

Pro: As close as it gets to max performance without sacrificing too much.
Con: Tread wear??? Not sure how this tire will perform on a day to day basis.

Also, I'm pretty sold on the 235/40/17 combo, but if anybody has any suggestions in terms of the sizing and other tires, please share. Also keep in mind I'm putting down close to 300whp and need something decent that's going to stick.

Thanks
Jaksa

GoodYear Eagle F1 Es D3s are the tire I've run this past year. I've been pleased. Held up nice. With what you describe, you should consider getting some dedicated track tires!

sry i have no experience in street tires but my decision would be the second if u are going to scrap them at the end of the year whats there to loose.?

i think id go with Yokohama's personally, but i never ever had a street tire before its either all season or offroad tire....

Azenis IMO. Best performance you can get.

I had mine on for a couple months this summer and didn't really notice a ton of wear.

never used either, but I loved the G-force KD. I have heard the KDW make quite a bit of road noise.

I'm personally more of a falken fan than any other tire, so I think the 615's will be ordered shortly.

Falken Azenis RT615 for sure. Or you could try something like the Toyo Proxes RA-1. You'll probably get one season out of the 615's. If you get more, make sure you take them off when it starts to get cold, they're NOT a cold tire.

I'm looking at RT-615's for my Miata also, but am concerned about tread life. Anyone have experience with these? I drive about 20,000kms a season...will I get a season out of them?

I've had the old style Azenis and they lasted me a season. One thing I did notice with the falkens was their 225's are wider than other 225's I've had.

for people wondering about treadware, if you have any sanity at all on the road, and aren't beating them up at auto slalom's then you definitely should get the year out of them

ive run both in a variety of sizes and they both act about the same.

track grip with the kdw is GREAT. even in the wet. (i lapped a rained out cscs event for hours with the kdws in my silvia with no issues) got a full summer out of them with not much tread wear.. id easily get another season.. and thats with 2 lap days and daily driving

the rt615 is also a fantastic tire with good tread wear, and good wet grip as well (way better than the first gen azenis rt215) ill be running a 255 40 17 on my gtr this year so well see just how long they last..
