Where to get tires shaved ?

Ok... so I got a flat, I noticed it right away, drove 200-300m at 40km/h, pulled over into a parking lot, and changed it out.

Nevertheless, the tire is shot, there's a small bubble on the sidewall... sad, I only had 1 summer on them... but they were down 4/32" from 11/32" to 7/32"...

Problem is, my car is AWD, anyone know shops that can shave tires ? Otherwise I'd have to fork out for 2 new tires... and these suckers are expensive (local shop quoted 450 per...)

If anyone knows shops that sells Eagle F1 GSD3 tires for cheap, let me know...

Check the tread depth closely on the new vs old if you're not going to get them shaved and buy 2 new tires.

Subaru says to use tires that are within 1/4" circumference from each other to prevent wear on the centre diff.

At 1/8 inch tread depth difference front to rear axles you're going to be very close to that number, and more than likely past it.

IMO find a good shop that can shave down 1 tire for you. Sorry I don't have any recommondations for that. To bad it wasn't closer to winter, you could have thrown those on to give you time to find a descent shop or even a used tire.

I'd bet shaving half the life from a brand new tire is probably going to cost you long term damned near as badly as just replacing the tire to start with, and having one spare in good shape

if you can't afford tires you shouldn't drive.

get two and have a good spare for next time with the good tire you pull off now.
done and done.
call derek at beverly tire for a price, or andrew if he's in

you know what, I was going to reply to you guys, but I'm not even going to bother. IF you don't understand why I'm asking to do this despite my post, then there's no point arguing.

For those that actually care, it appears that there are shops in Toronto that can shave tires... but the regional Goodyear distributors are completely sold out of the tires I need anyway (not to mention the huge markup). So I ended up ordering the tires from Tire Rack, they can also shave tires for 25bux, which is pretty cheap. So instead of forking over $1k for 2 tires locally, I should be getting 1 shaved tire for about 350bux.

Wouldn't you have had to replace all 4, not just 2??? I thought on an AWD car, you had to have the same tread on all 4 tires. Either way, it's a good price that you're getting it done for!

^^^ That's why he's buying 1 tire and getting it shaved to match the other 3 on his car which are fine.

I got a screw in my sidewall a couple of months back. Luckily my tires are long-life rated and were only about 10 months old at the time. I replaced with brand new tire and didn't bother with the shaving because difference in tread depth was minimal. I just made sure to put the new tire on the front for the time being where there is no LSD on my car.

Please don't 'bother yourself' to reply to people trying to help out.

If you think I don't understand why your doing this, your the one confused, i've driven AWD cars my entire life, some with three LSD's. I'm trying to be helpful and pointing out your shaving one perfectly good street tire and for your 350$ getting one half used tire in return, instead of spending 650$ and getting two brand new ones. Cost per kilometer your better off buying two and having a spare.

Saving a quarter to spend a dollar 6 months from now isn't a deal for anyone.

But please, don't bother yourself.

Have you mesured a new tire's circumfrence and compared it to your best one now? It may not be as far off as you think.
